Hammersmith
A wild space.
We were tasked with transitioning the garden from a modern extension with minimal planting into a space that was complimentary to the renovation whilst enhancing a sense of being a part of nature. A lawned play area was retained for whilst slowly tapering the beds wider as we advanced to the rear of the garden to then enclose the lawn and entertainment area with deep beds and climbers to give a real sense of moving further into the wild with it taking over as you move deeper into the garden.
A social space.
Play and entertainment are at the heart of this space. We wanted to orient everything towards the house to ensure a connection between the play area, kitchen, and patio. We looked to create a sense that there’s an additional room that’s a part of the house at the back of the garden. A sculptural sloped bench seat, informal seating space doubling as a planter and an outdoor kitchen with an in-built BBQ were all developed to create an excellent entertaining space for a few or many guests.
